Dr. Carol McKinley is the President/CEO of Simpson, a regional provider in the Philadelphia Area. Simpson serves over 1000 residents and 500-plus employees. It consists of three Life Plan Communities, three affordable housing communities, a home care company, and a rehabilitation company.
Dr. McKinley is a veteran health care executive having served in a wide range of health care and aging services for over 35 years. This includes multi-site organizations with hospice, memory care, assisted living, independent living, and nursing home care.
Her academic credentials include a Doctorate in Administration and Leadership from The Indiana University of Pennsylvania; a Master of Social Work specializing in health care and gerontology from Boston University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a health care focus from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Dr. McKinley has devoted much of her education and career to the care of older adults. She is committed to elders having quality lives, being treated and respected as adults, and receiving the care and services they need to live to their full potential. Motivated by the challenging health care environment, her overall goals are using creativity with available resources and finding ways in which elders can continue to be honored. She vigorously participates in streamlining care pathways through appropriate collaboration and partnership, including post-acute strategy, value proposition development, operational assessment and alignment, and advancing partnership development. She has been active in strategic initiatives in the areas of person-directed services; dementia care strategies; technology advancements; renovating for relevance; and navigating reimbursement models.
In her endeavors, Carol has been an advocate for both state and national issues. She has spoken on the national and international level to advance the elder care agenda. She currently serves on the LeadingAge Board of Pennsylvania. Carol’s work passion is balanced by her love of her family, enjoying the outdoors, reading, and musical expression
